President's Note
Welcome to DO Net Guide, the Internet and technology resource guide produced exclusively for our profession. Last year, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) partnered with Purdue Pharma to create the premiere issue of DO Net Guide. The response to that debut was overwhelmingly positive. Recognition of our efforts even extended well beyond the osteopathic medical profession: DO Net Guide was awarded a prestigious APEX Award for publication excellence.
This year, DO Net Guide again highlights the AOA’s efforts to enhance your practice of osteopathic medicine through new member benefits on DO-Online (www.do-online.org). There you will find features like the DO Jobs Online service, free monthly e-meetings on practice management topics, and the latest case-based online CME courses approved for AOA credit. You will also learn about the first new osteopathic specialty academy approved in more than 20 years—the American Osteopathic Academy of Medical Informatics.
Purdue Pharma, a leader in pain education for health care professionals and patients, recognizes the importance of cooperation within the health care community to develop and distribute high quality pain management information in all types of media.
Purdue has teamed again with the AOA to produce the 2003 DO Net Guide and is working with other disciplines to create similar print- and Web-based educational tools. Along with Purdue Pharma, the AOA will continue to expand its reach into current and evolving areas of technology, while concurrently offering the best in peerreviewed resources and educational opportunities for our members and patients.
As an avid user of computers and technology, one of my goals as President of the AOA is to make it easier for you to take advantage of all that is available from the AOA and others online. We hope that this issue of DO Net Guide will help to accomplish that.
Sincerely,
Darryl A. Beehler, DO
